Can i get sick if there was no heartbeat on the baby but it still hasnt come out yet?

they gave me the same option when I had my miscarriage, and I chose to wait and let my body abort the baby, I felt like if I would have continued with the d and c while I was pregnant then it would be alot like an abortion, even though there was no heartbeat. if they are giving you the option to wait then it wont hurt you, unless you go months. but a miscarriage can happen at anytime, so it shouldnt hurt to wait it out a bit
