XP does not support multiple simultaneous users. If someone is logged in remotely, the local user cannot use the machine, and vice versa. Windows Server supports this, not desktop operating systems. You can use VNC instead of Remote Desktop, this will let both local and remote users see the same desktop at the same time, but still you will be sharing a single desktop session.
