Mysterious animal sighting in the central US?

I saw an animal last night while on vacation in rural Kansas. It was about the size of a medium dog, with legs too long to be a badger's, but too thick a body to be a fox or coyote. It had a medium length tail that was thick, but not bushy, and a small head with a short snout, and no noticeable ears. It had a body similar to that of an aardvark, without the large head or tail of one.
